Peace Love World Spring 2014

Peace Love World: Clothes that give you life! Last September, I interviewed Alina Villasante, designer, creator and visionary of Peace Love World, when I wrote Alina’s Love. On this happy Friday, I want to revisit the words that Alina shared with me, describing the moment when this notion of spreading positivity came to life:

It all started in 1999 when I wanted to celebrate and honor all the special women in my life with what became known as the “Love Party.” I made shirts that had three symbols of peace, love and happiness for all of my closest friends. My friends were in love with the tees that I created and they continued to ask me for more shirts. I began to see a demand which inspired me to take my love of fashion to the next level. In 2007, I combined my commitment to spreading positivity and my passion for design and fabrics to officially launch Peace Love World.” ~ Alina Villasante

I am feeling like we all should spread Peace Love WorldAren’t you?

Ellen DeGeneres Tweeting: “I am Happy” Hoodie from Peace Love World

Didn’t we love Ellen DeGeneres as host of the Oscars?? She was so natural and so much herself; how she ingratiated herself with an audience filled with those-in-the-biz as well as those of us watching on television was truly impressive. What else impressed me? Her pre-show Twitter pic, wearing her “I am Happy” hoodie from Peace Love World. Last September, I interviewed Alina Villasante, founder and visionary of Peace Love World, and was inspired by her personal story; moving to The United States from Cuba when she was 8 months old and eventually settling in Miami. Alina feels that she is here to tell a story of peace, love and good will and that every PLW item of clothing is infused with positivity. The mission, according to Alina, is: “to spread peace, love, and happiness wherever and whenever we can.” It’s clear that Ellen feels that way, as do I. I’m buying that!

Alina Villasante, founder and visionary of Peace Love World

Alina Villasante is the founder and visionary of Peace Love World, a retail brand that is taking Florida and the world by storm. Alina believes that she is here to tell a story, a story of peace and love and good will. That is why every PLW item is infused with positivity. But it’s more than an image on a shirt. Alina says, “Peace Love World is about experiencing fashion in a soulful way – mind, body, spirit.” I asked Alina how she came to tell this amazing story …

MKG: Alina, you moved around as a child – born in Cuba and raised in The United States. How old were you when you and your family moved to the US? How did growing up in the various environments affect you?

Alina: I moved from Cuba to New York when I was 8 months old and after twelve years my family moved to Atlanta. Growing up in New York and Atlanta made me realize that everyone is looking for the same thing no matter where you come from. I learned how to love and appreciate all types of people, personalities and ethnicities. Continue reading

I love the PLW concept because it merges statements about peace, love, happiness, service, etc. with funky, cute and comfortable fashion.” ~ Anacristina, age 19

Anacristina, from Miami, visited a super-popular destination for fabulous clothes with a hopeful message: Peace Love World. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians have been spotted wearing their clothing. And last week the popular singer from Colombia, Juanes, was spotted with his daughters in PLW’s flagship store in Coral Gables, Florida.
