The trick is to find one that is functional and lightweight but at the same time fashionable. A few years ago the silk bomber jacket made its way into the fashion scene because of its style and versatility. I loved the trend but I didn’t like the high prices and I waited a long time to purchase one. When I saw this G by Giuliana paisley print on HSN I knew it was the one for me – and the price was right – under $100. I paired it with this black lace top and a good cup of coffee for the perfect accents to my day.

Last night I watched 61 year-old model Christie Brinkley launch her new skincare line on HSN. I learned about the need to exfoliate and how the two most important things for skin are collagen and elastin. With 40 years of modeling experience behind her, a knowledge of skincare products and a personal commitment to living a full and healthy life, I believe Christie Brinkley knows about caring for skin. After four years of research and development on this labor of love, the result is her new line, Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare (a three-piece skincare regimen kit – exfoliator, day cream with SPF 30 and night cream) sold at HSN.

In my opinion, this is a good time to try these products – whatever your age. Says Brinkley: “I firmly believe that beauty is an energy and everyone possesses it.” I’m buying it!

I am a big fan of Giuliana Rancic! And I love my denim. Put the two together and what have you got? Quality denim at a truly affordable price. After the successful launch of her G by Giuliana Rancic line on HSN three years ago, Ms. Rancic is now expanding to include denim. Three classic styles – boot cut, skinny, and boyfriend – all at the price of $59.

Denim is a staple in my wardrobe, but I have grown too accustomed to spending more for the best quality. Now I have an option. And you do, too. Thank you for changing this conversation, Giuliana Rancic. I’m buying it!

A bomber jacket that was worth the wait!

P1040953Ever since last fall, I have longed for a silky, bomber jacket. But the ones I coveted were completely out of my price range. However, good things do come to those who wait. And this good thing is a really, good thing; a fabulous paisley bomber jacket by G by Giuliana Rancic for HSN. Purchased for under $100, the “Monica” Bomber Jacket is soft, and ultra-chic. Versatile and effortless, this jacket gives me the style I’ve desired, at a doable price. Today I wear it with shorts and a summer blouse, but soon it will transition beautifully to the cooler months, when I pair it with jeans or trouser slacks.

This is the second time I have purchased a G by Giuliana Rancic piece; the first was a leopard print dress I featured last September, almost a year ago. Giuliana’s attention to detail is exquisite, and she designs everything to make you look your best. It may be because Giuliana’s father is, himself, an expert tailor. And of course, all at a great price-point. Obviously, I am a big fan.

QVC + HSN = OMG!

Do you want to go to a fashion party where you can see fashion stylists, designers and celebrities? Here is an idea: Turn on your television. By now you know that I am a little hooked on QVC; it has become a destination for shopping for a few of my basics. But it is more than that; it is an opportunity to hear and see fashion forecasts from stylists, designers and celebrities whom I have come to know and love. Names like: Rachel Zoe, Isaac Mizrahi, Nicole Richie, Lori Goldstein, and the latest celebrity, Jennifer Hudson, have all found homes on QVC. Home Shopping may have had a practical and utilitarian reputation at one time, but today it is much more fun. And QVC is not the only game in town. It may not be the giant that QVC is but HSN (Home Shopping Network) is hitting its stride and updating its programming. The other night I saw Fern’s Finds on HSN. After watching for a moment I realized that Fern was the Fern Mallis, credited as creator of New York Fashion Week (see: SOF, New York Fashion Week, Part 1). Very cool. Other celebrity sightings and fashion labels featured on HSN are: J.Lo, DKNY, IMAN and Badgley Mischka.

Just this week (October 8, 2012) Time Magazine ran an article profiling CEO of HSN, Mindy Grossman. Grossman took over as CEO in 2006, and at sales of about $2.2 billion last year, has made her mark. According to Time, “How did a first-time CEO with no experience in television and direct-to-consumer retailing turn HSN around? It was pretty simple, really. She just got everybody to think in a whole new way.” ~ Belinda Luscombe, Time Magazine.

So, I don’t have to look much further than my television to find inspiration. Fashion and fun are coming to ME!
