I love jeans. In fact, if I had to choose a favorite outfit that most feels like me it would be jeans and a t-shirt. And I love a good story. That is why a favorite site is Jean Stories, a welcoming place of great style and substance. In 2013 co-founders of Jean Stories, Florence Kane and Jane Bishop, two fashion insiders, began to share stories and information about denim and what makes wearing it so special. I follow Jean Stories religiously for tips and inspiration; in fact, it was Jean Stories that led me to purchase my all-time favorite jeans, Frame Le High Straights, which I often feature on TFIO.
Last month on Father’s Day, Jane Bishop shared a lovely tribute to her father, Ron Herman, owner of Ron Herman Boutique in Los Angeles. Listen to Ms. Bishop describe what she learned about the magic of denim from her early days working for her dad selling jeans at the store: “Even more, by selling jeans I learned the truth about denim: It’s not a fit, it’s a feeling that gets us. The pairs we fall in love with the hardest are the ones that show us what we want, give us what we need, and love us right back. They make us feel brave and beautiful. No one understands this better than my dad, who has been working in and around denim in L.A. since before I was born.” Perhaps this is why there is so much more to wearing jeans than meets the eye. This is why we all share this love story of an All-American wardrobe favorite.
Thank you, Jean Stories. I am buying it!
