Time and Tide to Go!

Get the white out with Tide To Go!

When I bought this white polo shirt, I was not aware there was a stain on it. Since I got it from my favorite consignment shop (no returns!) I had to find a way to keep the shirt – but keep it white. If you have not already discovered Tide-to-Go instant stain remover, go out and buy it now! It is amazing. You dab it on and watch the stain disappear. For my polo shirt, it worked instantly.

Spring is here and whites are jumping at the bit to take their place of prominence in your wardrobe. But if you are going to wear white, then keep your whites crisp and clean. No stain, even a small one, is worthy of you. The season is just starting – check your closets for any worn whites – remove any stains if you can but if not then let them go! Time and Tide to Go!

The Perfect Combination: White and Gray

Optimized-20150824_074539Optimized-20150824_074540-3Optimized-20150824_074325Is it okay to wear white after Labor Day? Absolutely! With the end of August fast approaching, I say it’s actually a good time to pull out your white; there is never a wrong time. In fact, adding a pop of white is a happy alternative to black. As the weather cools, you just have to watch the fabrics and textures of your whites: lightweight cotton, linen, and seersucker are meant for summer and should be avoided after Labor Day but if you choose heavier textured fabrics like wool, twill, and cashmere you will look seasonally appropriate. Don’t be afraid to try, to experiment (think accessorizing and layering) and find the right shade of white for you and your skin tone.

One of the ways I like to wear white is to combine a white jean with a darker, contrasting color like navy, black, and gray. Of these, my new favorite paring is white and gray. I think it is super-chic, simple and subtle. It’s the perfect combination.

Post-Labor Day White Out: I’m buying it!

Fashion rules are made to be broken. One in particular is the old, out-of-date rule to stop wearing white after Labor Day. The Zoe Report knows about fashion do’s and don’ts. One do: wear white after Labor Day. In fact, you can, and you must. White is so crisp and chic; it will enhance your wardrobe year-round. The trick is knowing how. Here are a few tips:

white jeans (as seen above) are a staple here to stay. Mine are boot-cut, but a slim-leg works well, too, with a flat shoe or a simple pump.

season-appropriate fabrics are more practical. According to TZR, as the weather cools, it’s more on-trend to wear white cashmere, wool and twill fabrics. Linen, very light cotton, and seersucker are all associated with hot, summer months, and should be worn only during that time of year.

white blazers and jackets are refreshing alternatives to black. Try adding one.

Enjoy your Post-Labor Day White-Out. I’m buying it!
