Fresh off-the-heels of the instantly sold-out collaboration with H&M last month, contemporary designer Alexander Wang is making news again, dropping a provocative image on the brand’s Instagram Account accompanied by the caption: “#ComingSoon #DENIMxAW #AWLaunch.” “It’s not provocative just in terms of sexy, but provocative to provoke conversation,” Wang told WWD of his denim. A full denim range has been missing from Wang’s arsenal, but no longer. The Alexander Wang Denim line is set to shop on December 8 both in his New York store and on his website. And I will be checking it out: I’m buying it!
First I read the book on Cristobal Balenciaga; now his story continues in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar Magazine. It features designer Alexander Wang’s new role as creative director of the house of Balenciaga. When Wang replaced Nicolas Ghesquiere as creative director he had big shoes to fill. But rather than get bogged down in that concept, he became a student of the master himself, Cristobal Balenciaga, in order to fulfill his destiny at the helm: “Cristobal was about finding purity in a silhouette or seam.” ~ Alexander Wang. Wang’s February debut at Balenciaga was a success and according to the article, at age 29 he seems to be on the right path to continue the legacy.
